Terms and Conditions

By downloading and using the Cool Noons mobile application, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Purpose: The Cool Noons app collects data on visitor behavior, thermal perceptions, and urban experience in Mediterranean cities as part of the Cool Noons project (Euro-MED0200331), co-funded by the European Union.
User Eligibility: Intended for users aged 16 and above or those with parental consent.
Data Collection: Includes geolocation, survey responses, and usage data. All data is anonymized and used for research only.
User Responsibilities: Users should respond accurately and use the app responsibly. Misuse may lead to access restrictions.
Liability: The consortium is not liable for any damages, including data loss or device issues, unless required by law.
Modifications: The app and terms may be updated at any time without notice.
Jurisdiction: Governed by Portuguese law. The University of Coimbra is the data controller.

Privacy Policy

Cool Noons is committed to your privacy. Here's how your data is managed:

Data Collected:
- Geolocation: tracks routes, time in areas, and movement patterns
- Survey responses: regarding heat, comfort, crowding, and satisfaction
- Device Info: including OS, model, and usage statistics
Purpose: Data supports research into urban sustainability and cooling strategies.
Security: Data is encrypted and stored in compliance with GDPR. Offline data syncs securely when connected.
Sharing: Only with academic and project partners. No commercial data sharing.
User Rights: Users can request access, correction, or deletion of their data by contacting anacaldeira@uc.pt.
Retention: Data is retained until Sept 2026 unless deletion is requested earlier.

Prize Draw Rules

How to Participate

Download and use the Cool Noons app in one of the participating cities.
Respond to the final survey (6–8 minutes long) sent at 21:00 on the day of your visit.

The Prize

One participant will be selected at random to win a prize of €500.

Funding and Branding Compliance

This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.

All visual assets used in the app comply with the Interreg Euro-MED branding guidelines (Partnership Agreement, Art. 9).

Additional Notes

Data Security: All personal data is encrypted and complies with GDPR.
Testing Locations: The app is being tested in Lisbon, Marseille, Imola, Budva, and Dubrovnik.
Offline Use: The app functions offline and syncs when internet is available.
Integration: May integrate with other tourism apps in the future.

Does the app work offline?

Yes, the app functions offline. It collects data without internet and syncs securely once online.
What are the benefits of using the app?

Do I need to register or create an account?

No registration is required. The app does not collect identifiable personal data.
In which cities can I use Cool Noons?

The app is active in Lisbon (PT), Marseille (FR), Imola (IT), Budva (ME), and Dubrovnik (HR).
When will I be asked to provide feedback?

You’ll receive temporal notifications (13:00, 15:00, and 21:00) and location-based prompts when entering designated "Cool Points" or "Hot Points" between 11:00 and 17:00.
Who can access my data?

Only authorized academic researchers involved in the project. Your data is anonymized and securely stored.
What type of notifications will I receive?

You’ll get three daily reminders (13h, 15h, and 21h), plus real-time prompts when entering evaluation areas. No notifications will repeat in the same location.
How do I enter the prize draw?

To participate, use the app during your city visit and complete the final 6–8 minute survey sent at 21:00 on the same day.
When is the winner announced?

The winner will be selected at the end of each pilot phase and notified via the contact details provided in the final survey (if applicable).
Can I participate more than once?

You can use the app multiple times, but only one valid survey response per person will be considered per draw phase.
